Travel advisors act daily to make sure safer, smarter travel for hundreds of thousands of Australians, and ATIA champions their worth as trusted professionals in an important business.

ATIA chief government Dean Long declared: “Global Travel Advisor Day is a powerful reminder of the critical role our members play in supporting Australians before, during and after they travel. ATIA is proud to champion accredited travel businesses every day and ensure their value is recognised across government, industry and the public. As the travel environment grows more complex, our focus remains on strengthening the visibility, capability and influence of Australia’s travel professionals.”

Advisors are the coronary heart of the business

As Long places it: “We are in the golden age of travel professionals, as more Australians, many of whom were burnt by COVID-travel experiences, turn to expert advisors for complex travel needs and crisis support.”

At the coronary heart of every ATIA accredited enterprise are the group members that make every travel expertise, delivering trusted, knowledgeable recommendation to hundreds of thousands of Australians. 

Whether guiding advanced worldwide itineraries, navigating flight disruptions, managing documentation, or offering emergency help overseas, travel advisors are proving extra important than ever. As the business evolves, so too does the function of accredited travel professionals – now central to delivering smarter, safer, and extra personalised travel.

This demand is mirrored in sturdy reserving volumes. In 2024, ATIA members booked $13.5 billion in retail travel, $11.8 billion in company travel, and $5.6 billion in land operations. 

More than 70 % of worldwide air gross sales and over 90 % of company travel bookings are made by way of brokers, with Australians more and more turning to trusted professionals for peace of thoughts and knowledgeable help.

ATIA continues to guide efforts to lift the visibility, worth and viability of accredited travel advisors throughout authorities, business and the travelling public. 

Through sustained advocacy, workforce growth initiatives, and public consciousness campaigns, the Association is making certain that the coverage, funding and regulatory surroundings allows its members to thrive. 

With 92 % of members being small businesses and 72 % of the workforce made up of girls, ATIA’s membership displays one of Australia’s most various, revolutionary and customer-focused sectors.
